Ben Tarbell, the CEO and cofounder of Ebb Carbon came to speak at the Nueva Aquanauts Club in May of 2025. Ebb Carbon’s technology enhances the ocean’s natural ability to capture and store CO₂ by using an electrochemical process called ocean alkalinity enhancement. It separates seawater into acidic and alkaline streams using low-carbon electricity. The alkaline solution is returned to the ocean, increasing its capacity to absorb CO₂ as stable bicarbonate, while the acidic byproduct is safely removed for industrial use. This process removes carbon from the air, restores ocean chemistry, and protects marine life, all with real-time monitoring for safe and verifiable carbon removal.
