Dr. Molly Anderson from the Woods Hole Oceanic Institue (WHOI) is spoke about her work in March of 2025. The title of her presentation was: “Mantle Heterogeneity through the Lens of Oceanic Crust.”
Dr. Elizabeth Selig
The Nueva Aquanauts Club invited Dr. Elizabeth Selig, the deputy director of Stanford’s Center for Ocean Solutions, to speak about her work regarding illegal fishing and labor practices in late February of 2025. Her presentation addressed the degree of distance between large fishing companies and the actual fishing boats, and explained her work alongside these companies to improve their fishing and labor practices.
Dr. Emelia Chamberlain
The Nueva Aquanauts Club invited Dr. Emelia Chamberlain from the Woods Hole Oceanic Institute to speak about her work in February of 2025. The title of her presentation was “Climate, Carbon, and Microbes in the Arctic Ocean.” She spoke about her work regarding Arctic microbes and the trends and data she collected after spending time in the Arctic.
Dr. Matthew Charette
The Nueva Aquanauts Club invited Dr. Matthew Charette from the Woods Hole Oceanic Institute to speak about his work in January of 2025. He spoke about the impact of nitrogen from sewage on estuaries in Cape Cod, and various solutions currently being implemented to address this issue.
Dr. Jonathan Stillman
The Nueva Aquanauts Club invited Dr. Jonathan Stillman to speak about his work in December of 2024. Hot and Sour Crab: Climate Change Impacts in the Marine Intertidal zone. He spoke about his work regarding the ATP production in crabs, and the impact of climate change on this process.
